Lois Pope, Arthur H. Wilson and Jesse Brown establish the “Disabled Veterans' Life Memorial Foundation, Inc.” (DVLMF) with the mission of raising the private funds needed to design, build and permanently maintain the American Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial in Washington D.C.


June 1, 1998

DVLMF receives 501(c)(3) approval from the Internal Revenue Service.


October 16, 1998

Congressman Sam Johnson and the Foundation draft legislation, H.R. 4847, for the House of Representatives to authorize the establishment of the Memorial.


October 20, 1998

Senator John McCain and the Foundation draft legislation, S. 2646, for the Senate to authorize the establishment of the Memorial.
