National Capital Memorial Commission approves the site over I-395 on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior.

August 28, 2001

Washington D.C. Department of Transportation writes in general support of the site over I-395.

August 1, 2001

The Foundation submits a Site Selection Report analyzing six potential locations for Memorial and recommends the proposed site over I-395.

October 24, 2000

President Clinton signs Public Law 106-348, establishing the Memorial.

October 5, 2000

Legislation passes in the U.S. Senate.

May 3, 2000

U.S. House of Representatives legislation passes.

February 17, 2000

The House subcommittee on National Parks and Public Lands holds a hearing on H.R. 1509.

October 13, 1999

The subcommittee on Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks, Historic Preservation and Recreation holds a hearing on the merits of S.311.

September 22, 1999

National Capital Memorial Commission again reviews S.311 pursuant to the Commemorative Works Act.
