Federal Highway Administration approves a grant to the District of Columbia for various street, road, and infrastructure improvements necessary to prepare the site for construction.

Leaders In Furthering Education hosts a star-studded gala in Palm Beach benefiting the Memorial project and raises more than $400,000. J.R. Martinez, winner of “Dancing with the Stars” TV show, is special guest and receives the “Unsung Hero” award.
