DVLMF receives $2,810,710 from the U.S. Mint, representing the earned “surcharge” revenue from the sale of 281,071 American Veterans Disabled for Life commemorative silver dollars.

December 4, 2010

Leaders In Furthering Education hosts its annual gala in Palm Beach benefiting the Memorial project and raises more than $300,000. Bobby Barrera, Vietnam combat disabled veteran, is the keynote speaker.

For more than 12 years, she has been the guiding force in the campaign to erect this memorial. We are also grateful that she has shared her dream – our dream – with you. Memorial sponsor submits to the National Parks Service the final drawings and specifications, cost estimate, and evidence of funds on hand, plus 10 percent cash payment of design and construction costs for maintenance. The sponsor seeks final approval by the Secretary of the Interior.

Final design approved by National Capital Planning Commission.

The Commission approves the final site and building plans for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial and commends the applicant for a design that will be universally acceptable by all people who visit the site including persons with visual and hearing impairments”

After design approvals from CFA and Citizens Coin Advisory Council, the U.S. Mint issues the American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar with proceeds benefiting the Memorial’s construction. 281,000 coins are sold.
